Diane Laidler is the owner and director of Studio Encore Dance Centre. Diane has been teaching children for 33 years. She teaches the preschool programs as well as the highland dance program. Diane is a professional member of Scotdance Canada and holds a teachers certificate in the S.D.T.A. (Scottish Dance Teacher's Alliance). She teaches all traditional highland and national dances at all levels from primary to premier. In addition, she choreographs dances, which enables students to compete in both festivals and competitions as a group.
Diane's choreography has won numerous awards in festivals and competitions across Western Canada. She offers her students the S.T.D.A. Highland exams. Many of her students compete year round in S.O.B.H.D. Highland competitions across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Over 70 dancers have competed and placed in the Inter Provincial Canadian Championship Competition held yearly, where dancers from across Canada, the United States and as far away as the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia compete against each other. Many of her students have placed in the primary to premier levels at these competitions.
Diane's choreography was showcased on Saskatchewan's Telemiracle, where 10 of her dancers performed to "Lord of the Dance". These same dancers also auditioned and were accepted for Saskatchewan's elite show "Dare to Dance". In 2000 and 2001 her students traveled to Scotland to compete at highland games throughout Scotland, winning numerous medals. Just recently her senior students won a top award at the International Dance Competition held in Hawaii for “Most Precision Group”. With a lot of hard work and determination Diane started Lloydminster's local association for Highland Dancing called the Mid-West Highland Dancing Association. In 2002 she organized Lloydminster's first Highland Dance Competition. Diane brings a vast knowledge and success to her teaching, sharing her love of dance.
Jennifer Parsons has been training in dance for over 30 years, and teaching dance for over 18 years. She has studied numerous styles of dancing over the years including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop, Highland, Irish, Irish step, African and Salsa Dancing. Jennifer has auditioned for the provincial Dare 2 Dance Company, as well as Disney Tokyo. She was successfully accepted in both auditions.
Internationally, Jennifer has performed in the Hyatt Hotel on the island of Kauai as well as numerous competitions in Scotland. She has performed for the Saskatchewan Telemiracle, the Alberta Summer Games, and has trained at Harbour Dance in Vancouver, BC. Jennifer has studied and trained with such people as Van "the man" Porter, Gemma Carny and Lioubov Mactchoukova from the world famous show "Riverdance". She has also trained with Sean Debidin, the artistic director from Dare 2 Dance provincial show, as well as Alex and Joanne Pesusich of the Rocky Mountain Dance Project, just to name a few.
Jennifer's choreography has won numerous top awards and scholarships in festivals and competitions across Alberta. She has won an outstanding amount of top awards and scholarships for her own performances. Some awards include " The Provincial Grand Champion Solo Award-highest mark", :The Outstanding Showmanship Award", and several highest marks in festival awards. She also placed first in the inter-provincial highland dance Canadian championship competition in the Premiere level. Her students continue to win top awards in festivals and competitions all over Alberta and just recently won the "Highest Mark Solo" in the International Dance Competition in Hawaii, 2006 as well as winning three other top awards at the competition. Jennifer was involved in choreographing a dance number for the Saskatchewan Summer Games, for the opening and closing ceremonies. In Spring 2015 several of her students took top awards in Spotlight Dance Cup in Seattle. One of her Tap solist a Tap duet and a Senior Tap Group won grand championship titles for their divisions and were all invited to compete in the National Championship competition in Las Vegas. Jennifer trained in the ABT Ballet Training Program Pre-primary to Level 3.
Jennifer has a very unique and fresh style and has incredible performing qualities. She is a very positive teacher and truly loves teaching dance.
Danielle had trained in all areas of dance for the last 25 years, and has been teaching for 13 years. She has won many awards and scholarships including 1st place in the Dance Championships in Alberta for her Hip hop Solo and won a full scholarship to the Rocky Mountain House Summer Program for her performance. She has second to none the most incredible performing abilities and has won countless awards as a dancer.
Danielle's focuses on Hip Hop which has become the biggest fad in the entertainment business. She has auditioned and was accepted to Rising Moment Talent Agency that gives her the opportunity to train with the best of the best in the Hip Hop community, as well as professional auditions. Danielle was chosen from thousands of Canadians that auditioned. Her Hip Hop choreography has won ‘‘Best Overall Choreography'' in many festivals in Aberta. The past decade several of Danielle's hip hop groups, solos and duets, have won countless choreography and outstanding awards as well as a Top Award in an International Competition in Hawaii. Danielle has now become a sought after choreographer for other dance studios. Danielle has trained in the ABT Ballet syllabus and is now cerified in the Preprimary to Level 3 in the ABT Ballet Syllubus.
With Danielle's teaching and her own choreography abilities, she has built up the Hip Hop program to one of the largest in this area.Danielle's Groups have won many Outstanding and Choreography Awards for her work as well as winning a Top award in the International Dance Competition in Hawaii. Just recently one of her students was also chosen to be part of Rising Moments Talent Agency. Danielle was involved in choreographing a dance number for the Saskatchewan Summer Games, for the opening and closing ceremonies.
She has also trained in Jazz, Tap Ballet, and Modern, Cheerleading, Gymnastics, Lyrical, African, Salsa, Brazilian, Musical Theatre and Highland.
Danielle's strength is in her personality, which goes along way with teaching children. She is a bubbly and an enthusiastic teacher, who truly loves working with children and wants to become the best teacher she can. Danielle has put in hundreds of volunteer hours teachhing many underprivileged children here in Lloydminster, so they have a chance to learn dance.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Miranda started dancing at a young age; starting at Annett’s School of Dance and training in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, hip-hop and highland, soon moving to Lloydminster to finish her high school dance career at Studio Encore. Upon finishing high school, Miranda continued her training through the Sandra Gary School of Dance and later to Shelley’s Dance Company in Edmonton Alberta.
Miranda spent a year performing, choreographing and touring with the Abiding Lines Dance Company under the direction of Kara Dubyk and has taught and choreographed for a number of studios in the Lloydminster and surrounding area. Currently living and working in Vancouver Miranda has spent the past year training and performing with some of the best in the industry as part of the Source Dance Company under the direction of Joanne Pesusich. Miranda continues to train both on and off the stage, currently a member of the Canadian Dance Teacher Association (CDTA) as an associate member in the ballet division, a member if Acrobatic Arts, a 200hr certified yoga instructor (ERYT) and a founding member of the Dance Collective yll summer dance camp. Miranda is always looking to expand her knowledge and to continue to grow as an artist.
Miss Shanna is a Gold Seal Certiﬁed ADAPT Dance Teacher specializing in Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre. She also holds an Associate CDTA Tap (Alberta Branch) Certiﬁcate, as well as Module 1 Acrobatic Arts Certiﬁcate. These are all in addition to a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree from the University of Saskatchewan with training in Acting and Performing Arts.
For the past 10 years she has taught all ages and levels at various studios in the Saskatoon, SK area, and Lloydminster, AB/SK. Her dance training began at a very early age and over the past years she has studied from such notable dancers as Brian and Faye Foley, Ryan Foley, Jason Samuel Smith, Kelsey Chase, Tara Jean Popowich, and Alex and Joanne Pesusich. Additionally, her choreography has won many awards during her years of teaching and competing.
Miss Shanna is also the the Vice President of the Lloydminster Regional Dance Festival, and their Social Media Brand Ambassador. She is also a founding member of The Dance Collective YLL, a dance camp in the Lloydminster area.
Miss Shanna is currently working towards her full CDTA (Alberta Branch) Tap Membership and Associate Ballet Membership.
Jayla started dancing at the age of 3 with Leader School of Dance. In the 15 years with LSOD, she attended many competitions and workshops in Calgary, Saskatoon and Vancouver. Jayla has had the opportunity to work with industry names such as Moe Brody, Liz Tookey, Carlo Atienza and Joanne Pesusich. She also completed many exams including ADAPT Intermediate 3 Tap and Jazz, RAD Grade 8 Ballet, CDTA Advanced Ballet and Tap, and is an Associate member of the CDTA in the Stage - Tap division. In 2013, she had the amazing opportunity to compete at the World Tap Championships in Germany, as a member of the Canadian National Tap Team. After graduating high school in 2014, she took a year to teach at LSOD, and the following year moved to Vancouver to be a part of the Intensive Training Program. After a fantastic year in ITP, she couldn’t stay away from Vancouver and became a member of The Source Dance Company. She is continuing to train and work towards a successful career, both as an artist and an educator.
